What is B-Zero?

This revolutionary product is the only peroxide, chlorine dioxide and bleach free teeth whitening system in the UK! The gel was developed in the USA during a time when peroxide based whitening systems were under legal scrutiny. The system is being used across America in both the Beauty and Dental industries achieving exceptional results!

How does it work?

Like most other whitening gels, B-Zero contains oxidizing agents that are the key to teeth whitening. The oxidizing agent penetrates the porous element of the tooth enamel and break down stains that block light and cause discolouration. Further treatment allows the oxidizing agents to penetrate into the dentin layer (underneath the tooth enamel) removing deeply embedded stains that have built up over time. The whitening agent is activated by the use of an LED blue light system in three to four 15 minute slots. The treatment can last from 12-18 months depending on various factors such as smoking and regular consumption of staining agents. Some customers would receive short top up sessions every 2-3 months depending on their diet and lifestyle.
Immediately following the treatment and for the first 48 hours, any drinks or food containing any food colour should be avoided. It is recommended to consume only white foods for this period, as the teeth will be susceptible to discolouration having used the stain removal process that results in open pores of the teeth.

The joy of B-Zero is that it is safe, legal and effective!

Why does B-Zero work?

B-Zero has been specially formulated with a blend of ingredients that act as both an oxidizing agent, and a cleaning agent. The LED light system used to activate the B-Zero is now one of the strongest on the market, with 36 watts of power. Using this light with the B  Zero whitening gel ensures the oxidizing agents activate and enter the porous enamel of the teeth, cleaning out the elements that cause discolouration.

Is it safe?

B-Zero is the safest professional teeth whitening system on the market! The ingredients are blended to a safe strength that still provide quality results. With no peroxide, chlorine dioxide or bleaching agents, this product will not cause any unwanted sensitivity, or damage the gums. B-Zero has been UK Safety Assessed and is fully compliant with EU Health & Safety Regulations.

B-Zero whitening gels are fully safety tested (CSA Ref: EAC210311) and compliant under EU Regulations.

Does it produce quality results?

B-Zero has been tried and tested around the world with exceptional results! Results recorded have been from 4 -10 shades lighter. The important thing to remember about B-Zero is that it does not contain peroxide. Peroxide used at the percentage quantities used in most dentists and teeth whitening companies will achieve instant and long lasting results. But the peroxide products used are dangerous, and are soon likely to become illegal. B-Zero is classed as an ongoing treatment. Most people will achieve instant and long lasting results with B-Zero, and with regular top ups you will maintain a brighter, whiter smile!

The dangers of peroxide, chlorine dioxide and other bleaching agents in cosmetic teeth whitening.....

With so many people striving to achieve the perfect smile, the teeth whitening business has grown into a multi-million pound industry. Dentists and Beauty Professionals alike are offering the popular treatment, but at what cost? The use of bleaching agents such as hydrogen or carbamide peroxide, chlorine dioxide, and even home made formulas containing house hold bleaching items, have left people with long term damage to the gums and teeth, leaving them with the opposite of a perfect smile.

Use of these bleaching agents could cause side effects such as: Tooth sensitivity, gum irritation and/or burning, lip burning and/or swelling, blistering, peeling, throat irritation, soft tissue irritation and headaches. And these are just a few, there have been studies by Georgetown University that have shown hydrogen peroxide may cause tongue cancer.

Furthermore, because of its dangers, the use of peroxide in teeth whitening agents is under scrutiny by the law in the UK.

Now is the time to switch to a safer teeth whitening system that achieves guaranteed results!

Teeth Whitening Products and the Law...

The teeth whitening industry is changing. According to The Dental Defence Union, local authorities are now being advised to actively enforce the law if they become aware that dentists are using a concentration of hydrogen peroxide of more than 0.1% in tooth whitening products.

In 2001, the House of Lords held that tooth whitening products fall within the terms of the Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 1996. These regulations make it illegal to supply tooth whitening products that contain or release more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide.

Not only that, but in a world that strives towards a more holistic approach to healthcare
and beauty treatments, the use of dangerous bleaching products are becoming less popular.

Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Laws

The EU Cosmetics Directive was implemented in the UK by the UK Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations Act 1996.

Teeth whitening is not a dental procedure and was passed as a cosmetic procedure in 2001 via The House of Lords.

Tooth whitening products were confirmed as being cosmetics on 28 June 2001 by The House of Lords ruling in the case of Optident Limited and another vs. The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. This means that they fall under the EU Cosmetics Directive (implemented in the UK by the UK Cosmetic Products (Safety) Regulations 1996).

The legal definition of a cosmetic product is: -

Any substance or preparation intended for placing in contact with the various external parts of the human body or with the teeth and mucous membranes of the oral cavity with a view exclusively or principally to cleaning them, perfuming them or protecting them in order to keep them in good condition, change their appearance or correct body odours.

Tooth whitening is therefore a cosmetic procedure and not dental. The procedure does not fall under the remit of the General Dental Council, however, there are certain practices that could occur during the performance of a treatment which may constitute the practice of dentistry for example the diagnosis of any abnormality present or the suggestion of the use of a certain drug even over the counter drugs. Our technicians are clearly trained on what they can and cannot do during a treatment so as to remain within the law.
