IceSmile Post Whitening Care Instructions
To maximise your whitening results, and to minimise sensitivity reactions, it is very important that you follow these instructions as closely as possible.
For the first 3 hours following your whitening session, avoid foods and drink only water. Over the next 48 hours, as rehydration occurs, your teeth will continue to lighten. It is during this time that teeth are particularly vulnerable to re-staining. Therefore within this time avoid foods and beverages that could stain, such as:
|
Coffee/Tea
Tobacco Products
Mustard/Ketchup
Cola |
Red Wine
Soy Sauce
Berry Pies
Red Sauce |
Around 25% of people will experience some small tooth and/or gum sensitivity following the whitening procedure; however this will normally subside within 24 hours. Avoid very hot and cold drinks for the first 48 hours if any tooth sensitivities exists. Should sensitivity occur, take your standard pain killers, or those you would use for any headache, as well as brush with a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
We consistently get the guaranteed minimum results (and much more) on a daily basis, but as an honest appraisal we always recommend our patients to take with them the home kit and use immediately after the treatment. This reduces the risk of any small amount of whiteness being lost. It also greatly helps maintain the whiteness for a greater length of time when used on a weekly basis.
